The Boardwalk is one of my favorite places in the entire world and I don’t get to experience it often. When I see the Giant Dipper on screen in a movie I get reminded of all my best memories there as well as a sense of pride that the world can now discover this historic place. I wanted to create my own movie poster dedicated to the Giant Dipper much like the ones it proudly displays by its entrance featuring references to the many films that have featured the Boardwalk.
Harold & Maude is represented by the metal typing stand, Chasing Mavericks by the surf board, Lost Boys by the motorcycle, The Sting II by the Cyclone sign and Killer Klowns from Outer Space by the big top in the background. The three people in the middle represent (from left to right) Jody from Dangerous Minds, Harry from Sudden Impact and Ferdie (the 11:11 guy) from Us. Last but not least, Bumblebee is represented by the beach rules sign on the left as well as a list of several other movies featuring Santa Cruz that I couldn’t fit into this piece.
