My first real job was at the Boardwalk. My best friend and I worked for Grounds as beach clean up. Burlap bags in hand, we walked from the River mouth to the Wharf and back, a thousand times, keeping the beach clean summer after summer.. Since our supervisor was in the mechanics garage, we knew all the crew. After they walked the tracks, the mechanics frequently let us ride the Dipper, two rounds nonstop, before the park opened. We always got in the front car. My favorite part was coming out of the dark tunnel, heading up the steep incline, clickety clack, clickety clack. The ocean breeze, the sound of the surf, the beautiful view, wow paradise. I love the rollercoaster. Always have and always will. Happy 100th Anniversary!
