We are a group of artistic weirdos and long-time Santa Cruz residents who gather periodically to make art together. For this particular session, we wanted to do scratchboard. Scratchboard + Boardwalk = Scratchboardwalk! We divided up a vintage photo of the Giant Dipper to use as a visual reference for a group scratchboard drawing. We threw a little paint pen on there for some extra pizazz.
We are in our 50’s to 80’s, and it has been our life-long, collective dream to win all the free laser tag passes for ourselves, so we met at Ocean View Park, overlooking the Boardwalk, and got to work. When we weren’t hard(ly) at work on our collective artistic masterpiece, or admiring the giant trees in the park, or laughing at our chronic inability to keep our individual sections of the rollercoaster aligned, we were taking important breaks to meet all the dogs in the park who, it turns out, were enjoying the beautiful, perfect day in our adorable city just as much as we were.
