I wanted to capture a perspective of the Giant Dipper that could only be seen by standing on the Boardwalk and looking up at the massive structure. The flags fluttering in the wind at the top of the coaster symbolize its iconic status as one of the oldest continuously operating roller coasters in California and the United States, looking much the same as when I gazed up at it from this same spot on my first visit to the Boardwalk as a nine-year old in 1966 and again with my son on his first visit as an eight-year old in 1991. To me and my family the Giant Dipper has always been a symbol of summer fun, family, friends and togetherness.
