Happy Birthday to The Giant Dipper!
I wanted my piece to reflect the 100 year milestone by starting with an open book to show how many pages/years of fun The Giant Dipper has brought to all of us! I also added palm tree/ocean elements to honor the beautiful scenery around the Boardwalk. The sun and the moon are a hidden nod to how the Giant Dipper entertains its guest from morning to night. The glitter at the top is a nod to the fireworks that showcased in May to kick off the anniversary. At the bottom, on top of the book, I added the iconic Giant Dipper sign. Right above the sign, I added a grey version of the roller coaster to represent itās fascinating past.
Making this was very exciting because I have been going to The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk since I was a baby! I used markers, ink and a little bit of watercolor for the final look š
